A couple of days ago I heard a lady dairy farmer phone up Radio Magic host Tony Amos late one night who had attended a recent NZ Ministry for the Environment meeting on the PROPOSED CHANGES to the NATIONAL POLICY STATEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS “ESSENTIAL FRESHWATER ACTION for healthy waterways at Winton in the South Island. She said what they propose is simply horrendous and if all farmers do not rise up and stop the proposals immediately, it will be the end of farming as we know it. While it will primarily affect pastoral farming, it will affect all other agriculture as well.
According to her, she said, if implemented, it will add at least another $20,000 per year per individual farm running costs, without major capital costs on top of that such as moving fencing from 3 metres from waterways, creeks and streams to 5 metres. She said all farmers and agriculturalists will have to apply for a resource consent at $5,000 to even change the usage of a paddock from grazing to for example growing winter feed etc. etc. With such massive, onerous changes proposed, I note only about 100 farmers turned up to the Winton meeting. Almost unbelievable! But the lady who ran the radio station said she believed these Ministry of the Environment socialist sewer rats deliberately chose this time of the year to release the proposals with only a short time for farmers to make submissions because it is the farmers’ busiest time of the year and most of them are preoccupied in running their farms and simply haven’t got the free time to attend meetings, read lengthy hundreds of pages of proposals or prepare lengthy submissions.
I’ve read some of it but not all, but got the general drift of what’s happening (as I am not a farmer and it does not directly affect me), and as I’ve said before, they are rabid Communists intent on destroying farming. This calling for submissions from farmers is a mockery as they really have already made up their minds in what they are going to do, and short of a national farmer rebellion stopping them (which is unlikely I would hesitate to say as most farmers are in denial) the Government will end up approving these destructive proposals. It will put many farmers out of business, and leave others in continual fear if they break the slightest environmental regulation, they will face a $250,000 fine. This is all part of the Communist United Nations AGENDA 21 program (which I and others have been warning about for decades) to close down much of the world’s agricultural land and transfer it into UN BIOSPHERE RESERVES. The mind boggles really at how so few people within the general public, and worse, the farming community, who appreciate what’s coming!
