No doubt this vindicates your decision to leave California to come to New Plymouth NZ years ago. I visited San Francisco a number of times in the 1980s and a NZ property company I had shares in owned some office towers there, including L.A., Portland Oregon and Seattle Washington further up the coast above California (where now I believe the same collapse is happening now also. I have walked almost the full length of Market Street which is very long, and what a vibrant and bustling place it was, with hoards of shoppers and tourists then. Although, even back then, though not immediately obvious at the time to the locals, the rot was starting with regular homicides every week (mainly drugs-related) in the outer areas of Market Road.
It’s certainly worthwhile reading the “Comments” and among them is one by someone who is correctly claiming what is happening to San Francisco is beginning to happen all around the world. Even here in NZ on the News tonight, the imbeciles are talking about running up tens of billions of more debt for ratepayers to have Auckland build two or three more harbour crossings – and follow cities like San Fran by increasing property taxes to the point people can’t pay and everything closes down and the productive companies and citizens of the city have no other option left other than to leave.
Note also that not only are the majority of the shops and buildings vacant (and therefore effectively valueless), even the graffiti is not being cleaned up or road markings maintained properly. Much the same as the Labour Party’s proposals here in NZ tonight, borrow tens of billions for new harbour crossings and rapid light rail which we don’t immediately need and certainly not with an impending economic depression coming, and yet right now all our nation’s rural regional roads that generate the majority of the nation’s export income are full of potholes and disintegrating at an enormous pace. Clearly the writing is on the wall now and as these Mother-earth worshippers implement the United Nations Agenda 21 and Agenda 30 with their supposed new ‘Smart Growth’ ’15-Minute Cities’ Isaiah 14:17 KJV is going to be fulfilled to the letter, as it is already beginning in San Francisco.
